Hanson to sell beer?

Tulsa rock group Hanson is branching out by selling beer.

The trio gave a talk at the Oxford University Union on Monday and revealed the group is releasing an Indian pale ale in early 2012. The band says the venture is another step in marketing themselves.

British newspaper Express quoted Zac Hanson saying, “What is vital is that Hanson merchandise is quality and not made solely with the purpose of profit. We have a board game and even a record player to play our last record on, but we will never make dolls, lunch boxes or toothbrushes that play our songs for example.”

The band is best known for their 1997 hit song “MMMbop” and subsequent follow up albums. The youngest Hanson member says they’re big hit could inspire the name of their brew.

“It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. In fact we are soon going to be selling our own beer, I’m not even joking, MMMHop IPA anyone?”
