Fancy Some MmmHop, Hansons New Beer?

This news is so funny we had to double check the date to make sure it wasn’t April Fools.  Hanson, the boy brother group that unleashed the unholy terror that was MmmBop across the world have announced their intentions to couple their career comeback with the release of their own brand of beer, appropraitely called MmmHop.
During a talk and Q&A session at the Oxford Union on Monday, the reformed boy band told the audience that in addition to running their own independent music label and self-releasing its albums, they would be added another piece of merchandise to their growing list that rabid fans apparently still buy in bulk.
“It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do,” Zac Hanson, the band’s now 26-year old drummer, explained. “We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I’m not joking – MMMhop IPA anyone?”
The beer will sit alongside such gems as poorly printer t-shirts, playing cards, and their recently release Christmas collection which includes a wollen sweater and even Hanson Christmas tree ornaments.
It’s now been 14 years since MmmBop was released and the boys have indeed all grown up, Isaac Hanson, the guitarist, is 31, while middle brother Taylor, the keyboard player, is 28. And remember that cute little drummer? Yeah, he’s now 26-years old and has 2 kids. Taylor also has 4, and Isaac 2.
Sounds to us like all the boys have been up to a lot of MmmBopping. Check out our slideshow of the worst songs of the 90s.

Hanson's MmmHop IPA To Be Released Next Year, Other Boy Band Beers Sure To Follow

mmmhop.JPG

Rolling StoneNME, and other outlets have reported that zit-laden superstars Hanson are preparing to market their own beer early next year. Cleverly titled Mmmhop, the IPA promises to bring bitter beer face to horny teenage girls all over the country. The band thinks the move is a logical extension of the other products they've marketed including a board game, a record player and enough clothing to stock an Urban Outfitter.
While bands marketing booze is nothing new, this may be the first time beer has been branded by a musical persona built on youth. Leveraged by the IPA, their hit song Mmmbob was released when youngest member Zachary Walker was just twelve years old.
The move is sure to spur other child band beer campaigns. City of Ate's top ideas include The Jackson Five's I Want You Bock, and Kris Kross' Kris Koelsch. The German style beer would sport a backwards label and make you jump, jump.

Hanson to Launch ‘MMMHop’ Beer Brand

Die-hard Hanson fans, many of whom are now of drinking age, can soon toast the ’90′s pop trio with the band’s own beer.
The Hanson brothers – Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson –announced Monday that they are developing an Indian Pale Ale named “MMMHop” after their biggest chart topping hit, “MMMBop,” the Toronto Star reported.
The beer is expected to be released in early 2012.
“We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience,” Zac Hanson said at Oxford University Union on Monday night.
The band already has a branded board game and record player, and now they can add beer to their repertoire.
Hanson is not the first musical group to launch their own brand of alcoholic beverages.
Beers: British rock group Elbow developed “Build A Rocket Boys” beer in honor of their album of the same name last month, while Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott has a lager named “Down ‘N’ Outz.”
Wines: Motley Crue singer Vince Neil bought a vineyard in 2003 and launched his own line of wines under the label Vince Vineyards. Rapper Lil Jon also owns a vineyard in California called Little Jonathan Winery.
Hard Liquor: Marilyn Manson launched ”Mansinthe” in 2008, Willie Nelson has a brand of Kentucky bourbon called “Old Whiskey River,” Van Halen frontman Sammy Hager has a brand of tequila called “Cabo Wabo,” and rapper Dr. Dre has a brand of Cognac called “Aftermath.”

Hanson Beer: MMMhop IPA

Hanson

As kids, they gave the world "MMMbop." Now, as adults, Hanson is releasing MMMhop out into the world.
The brothers of the boy band-turned-fully grown rock trio announced at a talk at Oxford on Monday that they will be entering the adult beverage market with their very own brew.
"It's vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do," Zac Hanson, the band's now 26-year old drummer, explained. "We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I'm not joking - MMMhop IPA anyone?"
While it's a cute name, the idea shouldn't actually come as a surprise. The band runs its own independent music label, self-releasing its albums, and has a whole line of branded products that their still-rabid fan base love to buy in bulk.
Isaac Hanson, the guitarist and oldest of the trio, is 31, while middle brother Taylor, the keyboard player, is 28. They each have a number of children; Taylor has 4, Isaac has 2, and Zac has 2. They've released eight studio albums.

Hanson are launching their own beer.
The musical brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson are in the process of developing an Indian Pale Ale which they plan to release in early 2012, and are going to name the beverage MMMHop after their biggest hit MMMBop.
However, the group admitted they are unlikely to ever follow in the footsteps of other boy bands and develop miniature dolls of themselves.
Speaking at Oxford University Union on Monday night, Zac said: “We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience.
“What is vital is that Hanson merchandise is quality and not made solely with the purpose of profit. We have a board game and even a record player to play our last record on, but we will never make dolls, lunch boxes or toothbrushes that play our songs for example.
“It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. In fact we are soon going to be selling our own beer, I’m not even joking. MMMHop IPA anyone?”

Pop trio will be marketing their own ale
Hanson to launch 'Mmmhop' beer brand

American pop band Hanson have revealed they are launching their own brand of beer called 'Mmmhop'.

The trio have announced that the beverage – which is named after their 1997 Number One single 'Mmmbop' – will be an Indian pale ale that will be available early next year, reports the Daily Express

The group discussed the details of their new venture at the Oxford Union earlier this week (November 28), with drummer Zac Hanson telling the audience: "It's vital our fans trust in everything Hanson do. We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I'm not joking – Mmmhop IPA anyone?"

Hanson released their eighth studio album 'Shout It Out' in June 2010. Earlier this year, meanwhile, guitarist Isaac Hanson accused Kings Of Leon of "acting like pricks" after the Tennessee band shelved tour dates with singer Caleb Followill allegedly suffering from exhaustion and vocal problems.

Hanson aren't the only band to try their hand at the alcoholic beverage industry. Elbowlaunched their own charity beer named after their 'Build A Rocket Boys!' album and donated the proceeds from its sales to Oxfam, while the likes of The Rifles and Kiss have also introduced their own brands of ale this year.

Hanson brand Janet Devlin cover 'poor'

Hanson have branded Janet Devlin's version of their hit song 'MMMBop' on Saturday's (26.11.11) 'X Factor' as ''p**s poor'' and admit the Irish teen probably deserved to be booted off the ITV1 talent show.
Hanson have branded Janet Devlin's version of their hit song 'MMMBop' on Saturday's (26.11.11) 'X Factor' as "p**s poor".
The Irish singer was booted off the ITV1 talent show after forgetting the words to the 90s hit and the group's drummer Zac Hanson admits he was far from impressed with her rendition.
He said: "She seemed really nervous and she did a pretty p**s-poor job of it. Not trying to be mean, I think she can sing but there's a certain groove to that song that comes from listening to doo-wop records and Motown records and that's the way you have to sing it, with that in mind.
Janet Devlin
"It sounded like she was singing it as straight as possible. It was like she didn't remember the song."
However, Zac admitted he wouldn't be against working alongside Janet in the future.
He told The-Fly.co.uk: "She has a good voice though so I wouldn't turn it down if she wanted to co-write a song."
After being given the axe, Janet claimed she was actually glad to have left the show as she felt it was turning her into a "karaoke" artist.
She said: "To me the sad thing about 'X Factor' is that it's brought me down a lot, I was just covering other people's songs and it got to the point that I just felt like a karaoke artist every Saturday night."

Hanson Develop Their Own Beer For No Good Reason At All

You know what market hasn’t been tapped? A market that really has been crying out for someone to fill? The ironically loved 90s one-hit wonder alcohol market! So thank the stars that Hanson are here and flogging a beer they’ve developed!
That’s right, music brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson are in the process of developing an Indian Pale Ale which won’t be stocked by an real ale enthusiast pubs in early 2012.
Of course, what with it being pop related, it’s going to need a pun-based name, right? Get ready to wonder what it would be like to order a foaming pint of MMMHop. And how dare you assume that we made that name up.
Without any trace of irony, Zac Hanson, speaking at the Oxford University Union on Monday night, said:
“We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience.
Get all that? There’s a whole bunch of merch out there that no-one has bought because Hanson haven’t been at all relevant since the ’90s.
Of course, making your own beer is in vogue for musicians. For a few months now, you’ve been able to buy the Elbow-developed Build A Rocket Boys Beer and Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott launched a lager named Down ‘N’ Outz.
It’s more usual for a band to get a taste for wine and such, because it means you can have regular holidays to vineyards in France and Italy on the expenses, but y’know, lager… drink of the people… people’s bands… all that bullshit.
Whatever.
Next week: Nik Kershaw releases Pot Noodle rival called Wouldn’t It Be Rice and Chris De Burgh sets up Lady Is Dead funeral parlour for ‘a greater fan experience’.

X Factor: Janet Devlin kicked off show after forgetting words to Hanson's Mmm Bop

Irish singer Janet Devlin missed out on a place in the X Factor semi-final after her lacklustre performance failed to win her votes.

The teenager forgot some of the words to 90s hit Mmm Bop on Saturday night's show, later blaming the mistake on feeling like she was ''going to throw up'' after eating something funny.
Her second song, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Under the Bridge, was marginally more successful but not enough to save her from last night's sing-off with Mancunian Misha B.
Janet, 17, hoped singing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol would be enough to win over the judges, but they preferred her rival's version of Out Here on My Own from the musical Fame.
Mentor Kelly Rowland was unable to choose between her two acts and abstained from voting, having admitted ''feeling sick'' when both girls ended up in the bottom two.

Louis Walsh had already decided to save Misha B however, saying: ''I'm going to pick the person who's going to give the most to this competition.''

He was followed by Tulisa, who voted for Misha B after saying she wanted to save the person ''who's going to sell records, who's going to sell out arenas''.

Kelly's decision to abstain meant Janet was automatically sent home as the majority had already chosen her to go - but Take That singer Gary Barlow later admitted he would have also saved Misha B.

Asked how she felt at the news, Janet said: ''I don't know. Obviously I'm very confused.

''I can't wait to walk out of the show and get my music out.''

Host Dermot O'Leary described Janet as ''one of the most exciting people we've had on the show''. Kelly agreed, gushing that the teen had ''such a unique gift''.

Misha B joins girl band Little Mix, pink-haired Amelia Lily and the sole remaining male singer Marcus Collins in next Saturday's semi-final.

Last night's programme featured performances from former contestant Olly Murs, accompanied by The Muppets, and Jessie J.

This year's X Factor charity single Wishing on a Star was also performed by this year's finalists, joined by boy bands One Direction and JLS, who both found fame on the ITV1 show.

The 'MMMBop' band – made up of brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson – say the wild antics of their followers have seen them go to great lengths to meet them, and they feel bad about having to dodge them in rock star style.

Isaac exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There has been so many unusual things happen to us - like not being able to go out of a hotel because there are too many people in the lobby. So you have to like sneak out the back way, jump in a van with tinted windows, just so you can have dinner.

"I feel like a bit of a spoiled brat saying that. But unfortunately, and fortunately, there's a lot of stuff like that you experience a lot of times. Having people you don't know break into your hotel room and all that kind of stuff."

However, the band – who are performing at London's IndigO2 venue on Tuesday night (29.11.11) as part of their 'Shout It Out' world tour – admitted their most dedicated followers don't often think through their plans, and it is "awkward" when they come face-to-face with them when they have sneaked into their hotel rooms.
Isaac added: "It can be awkward, you know. I don't think their plan is actually thought out, because most of the times what happens is, you walk in and they freeze and don't really know exactly what to say or what to do."

MMMBop - Hanson back in London with Shout It Out tour

The trio from Tulsa, Oklahoma, comprising brothers Issac (guitar, vocals), Taylor (keyboards, piano, vocals), and Zac Hanson (drums, vocals) are a household name the world over, having sold more than 15 million records worldwide and a number one record in 25 countries.
The Shout It Out tour will ill t It Outtone describing theirck for the real dealy so year, theound teh all over the UK r the image and account informatiofeature tracks from their acclaimed fifth studio album, as well as highlights from their previous four albums, spanning nearly 15 years of music.
Speaking to London24, 31-year-old Issac explained why they were so keen to make a return to the UK after an absence of four years.
“The UK is one of our favourite places to tour and play, and we have a lot of fun here,” he said.
“After four years of not being here, we’re trying to make up for lost time. It’s been a real goal for us to build and to focus ourselves and we decided we’re gonna focus on the whole world, and actually there are shows everywhere, but there’s always someone that you’re not getting to.
“So we’re trying to make everyone as happy as possible. The UK is kind of an anchor.”
Zac, the 26-year-old drummer, explained what they love most about touring.
“We’re musicians. We like playing live music. I don’t know how you could live this life and do this job and not be a live performer.
“That’s the reason why we do what we do and it was that way even as little kids. That still remains true. It’s the experience on stage. It’s the way the crowd is, the way the room sounds, it’s the challenge.
“We probably have less of a challenge than some bands because we have these amazing hardcore fans. There’s nothing like it. We have amazing fans. They’re incredible.”
Following on from the success of their critically acclaimed album The Walk and now recording under their own label, 3CG Records, the new album reflects where the band are personally and professionally.
“If you look at it that way, I think we’re in a pretty good place,” says Zac. “I think it’s a record that’s loud and proud and happy to be where it is.
“Our last album was called The Walk and I think that was indicative of the slow steady climb and I think this record is almost the opposite of that. It’s sort of reveling in the achievement of the time that has passed.
“The fact that this is our fifth album, it’s a landmark time for us. We’ve been doing this together for 20 years. It’s a big deal. There is a serious excitement in the feeling that is worth remembering and reveling in.”
While other bands have floundered, Hanson have been performing together for 20 years. Taylor explained how the brothers work together creatively.
“We have our good and our bad moments and when we creatively work it’s much like the way we interact.
“I mean, everybody has different styles. You try as much as possible to blend and I think over 20 years we’ve more or less figured it out. Everyone’s their own ways that they create music. What we’re really saying is, we’re all different and we draw on what each person has to contribute.”
Widely recognised for their philanthropic efforts, Hanson have followed in the footsteps of Johnny Depp, having been invited to speak at The Oxford Union.
And despite the innumerable accolades to their credit, including three Grammy nominations and described by U2 front man Bono as “genius,” as they explain, there’s much more to come from the Hanson boys.
“As accolades go, that’s not a bad one,” said Zac. “There are amusing moments and when somebody knows your music or someone says something like that, it’s amazing.
“Thing is when you write a song and the public responds to it, it’s a pretty amazing experience,” added Issac, “and I think we feel lucky to be in that position, but there’s much more still to come.”
Hanson will be performing at London IndigO2 on November 29.
