Hanson launching what might be least socially acceptable beer in history

Hanson-Kings-LeonI’m just taking a shot in the dark, but something tells me the Hanson brew — named MMMHop, what else? — won’t be the first brew the beer drinkers in your life will be reaching for come time for a cold one.
Hanson — yes, that Hanson — reportedly told a crowd at Oxford University Monday night that they’re launching their own brand of India Pale Ale. Not being a beer-drinker, bar-hopper, or generally social human being myself, I couldn’t tell you indefinitely whether MMMHop stands a chance of being ordered un-ironically, say, at a pub or other watering hole. (Evidence that I was completely honest about my anti-social ways: use of the term “watering hole.”) But I certainly hope some burly man out there finds the courage to order a frosty MMMHop while sitting down to take in a game on TV with his buddies. Because that man, my friends, will be a pop culture hero among simple men.
We’ll all get our chance to taste the flavor of Hanson (eeeww) in early 2012, and I imagine it will resemble the band’s music: sweet, then bland, then a little nauseating. But, later on, you’ll remember it fondly…in private.
So, brave PopWatchers, are you curiously awaiting MMMHop? Will any celebrity beverage be more delicious than Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River Bourbon? And would you be more ashamed to drink MMMHop or Vince Neil’s Tres Rios Tequila in public?
