It's official. The Tulsa homeboys in Hanson are working on an India Pale Ale beer. We could use this opportunity to have a naming contest, but the brothers have beat us to the punch. Er, suds.

After rampant rumors washed over the Internet earlier this week, Hanson drummer Zac confirmed on Thursday: "Yes a branded Hanson IPA beer concept is in the works under the moniker 'MMMHops.'

"We're glad to see a bit of buzz around the idea, which has been brewing for some time," he said in an email to the Tulsa World.

Brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac haven't said a peep about the brewing debate on their official website or Twitter account, though.

However, websites around the globe went into a froth early Wednesday about a rumored announcement of the Hanson beer, inspired by the name of its 1997 hit "MMMBop."

The buzz began after Zac Hanson allegedly told a group of Oxford University students: "It's vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I'm not joking - MMMHop(s) IPA anyone?"

He also said, "We of course make records; they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience," quoted Toronto.com.
