10-year-old soprano at No. 2 of Billboard 200

MANILA, Philippines – Singing discoveries by TV talent searches Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent are really bound to set global records.

After BGT’s Susan Boyle topping both US and UK album charts simultaneously recently, it is now AGT’s soprano prodigy Jackie Evancho’s turn.

Although Evancho did not make it to the No. 1, her EP “O Holy Night,” consisting two Christmas standards ("O Holy Night" and "Silent Night") and two classical crossover pieces, landed at No. 2 after selling 239,000 units in the week ending November 21, 2010. This makes Evancho, 10, the youngest artist ever to enter in the top ten albums.

The list of artists who first occupied the top slots in the album charts at a young age includes Michael Jackson with the Jackson 5 (11 in 1970), Zac Hanson of the band Hanson (11 in 1997), Stevie Wonder, LeAnn Rimes, and Miley Cyrus (all were 13).

This achievement also makes Evancho 2010's top-selling debut artist as well as the youngest female solo artist to ever debut in the Soundscan era.
