April Fools or Not: Hanson Covers Slipknot’s “Wait and Bleed”

First, it’s April Fool’s Day, so take all of this with a giant grain of sand. The reason we’re sharing this is not because we believe that mmmbopping pop rockers Hanson are actually coming out with an album entirely composed of Slipknot covers, but because truthiness aside, there is actual video of the trio covering “Wait and Bleed.”

“Wait and Bleed” was the first single of the heavy metal band’s 1999 debut album. The Hanson cover is kind of rad, in a goofy, absurd way. If we’re to believe Shock Hound, the project of Slipknot covers has long been gesticulating amongst the Hanson brothers.

“We have always cited classic soul and rock and roll as an inspiration, but we have had long-time respect for heavy metal and bands like Slipknot who capture true angst,” drummer Zac Hanson told the site.

Said brother Isaac: “This project has been in the works for some time. When we saw there was a leaked video, we thought we should at least put up something that more accurately represents the project. It’s still an early version, but we’re excited about it — and we wanted ShockHound users to be the first to hear it!”

You know, after hearing this a Hanson album full of metal covers doesn’t sound like such a terrible idea, does it? Obviously, there’s no intended release date for the fictional album.
