Depois do hit 'MmmBop', Hanson vai lançar cerveja MmmHop

01/12/2011 11:05:29

The Hanson brothers may have become pop stars in their teens but now that they’re of age, they’re celebrating.
The boy band of brothers are cashing in on their 1997 hit “MMMBop” with a beer called MMMHop.
Isaac, Taylor and Zac are in the process of creating their own Indian Pale Ale which they plan to release in early 2012.
“We of course make records -- they are fundamental to what we do,” said Zac Hanson, now 26, told a crowd of students at Oxford University Union, according to the Toronto Star. “But we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience.”
The Grammy-winning trio also sells a boardgame on their web site -- Hansonopoly. Instead of hotels and railroads, players can buy and sell music venues and collect fan club cards.

Still, the pop band has its merchandising standards.

"We will never make dolls, lunch boxes or toothbrushes that play our songs for example," he said.

Hanson Coming Out With New Brand of Beer

Reportedly a brew of Indian Pale ale, the alcoholic drink borrows the name of their most popular hit, 'Mmmbop'.

HansonHanson brothers have lent their song title to a beer brand. Taylor Hanson, Zac Hanson and Isaac Hanson are launching "MMMBop", an alcoholic beverage named after their 1997 hit "Mmmbop".

The Daily Express said that the drink is the brothers' own brew of Indian Pale ale. "It's vital our fans trust in everything Hanson do. We are soon to be selling our own beer. I'm not joking -- Mmmhop IPA anyone?" Zac reportedly said during a talk at the Oxford Union on Monday, November 28.

The beverage will be available early next year.

Eldest brother Isaac seems to be a strong drinker. Last week he posted a photo of him and a miniature version of scotch whisky on Twitter with the comment, "I just drank a whole bottle of single malt scotch whisky! But I think I need some more."

Hanson brothers are no strangers in endorsing products. They have a line of branded products such as apparels, accessories and even holiday items like Christmas cookie cutter.

Hanson planning to brew "MmmHop" beer

ByJessica Derschowitz

(CBS) Hanson is taking on a new project: Getting into the beer business.
The trio, who shot to fame with their 1997 hit "MmmBop," are planning to brew their own brand of beer called - fittingly - "MmmHop."
Word of the band's brew created buzz when it was first reported earlier this week, and the youngest Hanson brother confirmed the news in a statement.
"Yes a branded HANSON IPA beer concept is in the works under the moniker 'MmmHop's,'" Zac Hanson, 26, said Thursday. "We're glad to see a bit of buzz around the idea which has been brewing for some time."
The brothers - Isaac, 31, Taylor, 28, and Zac - have released eight studio albums. Off-stage, all three are married and have eight children among then (Isaac and Zac have two each, Taylor has four).
Tell us: Would you buy Hanson's beer?

Weekend Wonderland

Old National Centre fills stockings with music

Hanson (from left, Zac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Isaac Hanson) will perform Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at the Egyptian Room in Old National Centre.

Radio stations traditionally sponsor Christmas-themed concerts in December, but to have one Indianapolis station spread holiday cheer across three nights is unprecedented.
WZPL-FM (99.5) will divide its "Jingle Jam" franchise into three phases, beginning with a Hanson-headlined show tonight.
A roundup of holiday shows includes two veteran acts not necessarily known for Christmas tours (the Oak Ridge Boys and Chicago) and two veteran acts who are known for them (Mannheim Steamroller and Jim Brickman).
Don't be surprised if Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., has mistletoe hanging from every doorway. Eight of nine events highlighted here are scheduled for the multivenue facility.
For more information about these events, visit www.ticket master.com or call (800) 745-3000.

Oak Ridge Boys

The vocal quartet of Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, Richard Sterban and William Lee Golden is expected to perform a string of the group's hits, and then offer a post-intermission run of holiday favorites.
Details: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, Murat Theatre in Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., $30.50 to $50.50.

WZPL Jingle Jam I

On a bill that implies the past, present and future of Top 40 music, Hanson (known for 1997 hit "MMMBop"), Hot Chelle Rae (a band that reached No. 7 this year with "Tonight Tonight") and Kelly Taylor (the unsigned Indianapolis teenager responsible for WZPL favorite "Classics") will perform.
Details: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, Egyptian Room in Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., $29.

WZPL Jingle Jam II

Singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson is enjoying increased exposure, thanks to "Run," his song that features Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush as guests. Pop balladeer Christina Perri and synthpop band Gentlemen Hall also will appear.
Details: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3, Egyptian Room in Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., $29.

WNOU Santa Slam

Demi Lovato will make her first Indianapolis appearance since she dropped off a Jonas Brothers' tour in October 2010 to seek treatment for "emotional and physical issues." Lovato's ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, shares the bill at this concert presented by radio station WNOU-FM (100.9).
Details: 7 p.m. Dec. 5, Egyptian Room in Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., $35.

Chicago

Pop-rock band Chicago -- known for No. 1 hits "If You Leave Me Now," "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" and "Look Away" -- released an album titled "XXXIII: O Christmas Three" in October. Dolly Parton, BeBe Winans and Steve Cropper made guest appearances on the 14-song collection.

Details: 9 p.m. Dec. 16, the Vogue, 6259 N. College, $13.

Mannheim Steamroller

Instrumental act Mannheim Steamroller issued its first Christmas album in 1984, and since has become the top-selling Christmas artist in history. Hanson Launching MMMHop Beer in 2012: Bad Idea?

By Kate James

Hanson Launching MMMHop Beer in 2012: Bad Idea? The brothers of the group Hanson are all grown up, and they are launching their own beer label called MMMHop, which is an Indian Pale Ale. This is, of course, a play on their insanely popular song, MMMBop.
Is this new Hanson brew a bad idea? The name is unusual for sure, and most people who want a beer certainly don't think of the group of brothers, Isaac, Taylor and Zac, from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Of the new beer MMMHop, Zac said, "We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience." Do you normally want beer from the musicians whose music you listen to? It seems like it's a bit of a stretch.
Regardless of how you feel about the new Hanson beer, it's supposed to hit shelves sometime in early 2012, so you won't have to wait too long to try it if you're so inclined.
What an interesting choice for the Hanson franchise. Do you think you'll try MMMHop anytime soon? It actually sounds like it might taste good if you can get past the name.

There's A Hanson Beer, And It Is Called MMMHop

By: Josh Harrison

New drinking buddies!
Quick! Think of a tie-in product for unforgettable 90s pop group Hanson! TEN SECONDS, MACGRUBER! And... time. What'd you come up with? Was it a Hanson beer called MMMHop? If not, you are probably not a member of Hanson. You are probably also insanely jealous. That will pass.
According to a report from The Star, the pop trio has joined forces once again to create an India Pale Ale. They're planning to release it next year. This is actually a thing. The Star (by way of The Mary Sue, the site that did the Kessel Run in has some quotes from a recent Zac Hanson university appearance concerning this latest evolution of the Hanson brand:
"We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience. What is vital is that Hanson merchandise is quality and not made solely with the purpose of profit."
Zac explained that though Hanson has a board game and even a record player, the band won't ever put its name on dolls, lunch boxes, or lame musical toothbrushes. Instead, they're focusing their latest efforts on a product that just may give you the courage to belt out "Where's The Love?" in front of your co-workers at the next office party.
And here, of course, is the kicker:
"It's vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. In fact we are soon going to be selling our own beer, I'm not even joking," said Zac. "MMMHop IPA anyone?"
Not gonna lie--and maybe this is just my inner 90s kid talking? But Hanson beer sounds incredible. I'm down. Although I'd also like to sample Arnold Schwarzenegger's Kindergarten Hop, Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Hop, or the Ramones' Blitzkrieg Hop.
I should definitely have been the fourth Hanson brother.

Hanson announces they will brew their own brand of beer, ‘Mmmhop’

Darren Goldstein/MTV

Hanson — the once pint-sized, tow-headed ‘Mmmbop’ crooners — have just announced they are launching their own brand of beer named after their famous single 14 years ago.
The Oklahoma boys — now 31, 28 and 26 — gave a talk at the Oxford Union debating society at Oxford University on Monday, where they revealed the plans of their soon-to-be brand of Indian pale ale called Mmmhop.
“We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience,” said drummer Zac. “What is vital is that Hanson merchandise is quality and not made solely with the purpose of profit. We have a board game and even a record player to play our last record on, but we will never make dolls, lunch boxes or toothbrushes that play our songs, for example.”
He then continued, “It’s vital our fans trust in everything Hanson do. We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I’m not joking — Mmmhop IPA anyone?”
Though the band is not the first to produce their own alcohol. Artists such as AC/DC and Carlos Santana have created their own wines, and just last month British group Elbow came out with Build A Rocket Boys Beer named after their most recent album.
Hanson released their eighth studio album ‘Shout It Out’ in June 2010. Aside from now brewing their own beer, they will be heading out on the road for a Canadian tour late January and into February.

Hanson launching beer brand

Pop brothers Hanson have become the latest band to break into the booze industry by brewing their own brand of beer.
The musical siblings, best known for their track MMMbop, have created their own Indian pale ale, which they are calling MMMhop after their hit song.
They announced the side-project during a talk at Britain’s prestigious Oxford University on Monday, with drummer Zac telling the audience, “It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I’m not joking — MMMhop IPA anyone?”
Hanson follow rockers including Elbow and The Rifles, who have also created their own beer.

5 Minutes with Hanson

Hanson (© PA)Hanson explain why they think X Factor is "all about the drama", and tell us what they really thought of Janet Devlin's performance of MmmBop.

Rockband Hanson have just finished the last date on their latest world tour. The three brothers seemed relaxed and happy when we caught them, just hours before performing their last date at the Indigo2 arena, London. They took a few minutes to tell us about what they imagine Celine Dion could win, Janet Devlin's shocking performance of their hit song Mmmbop and how they think X Factor impacts upon the music industry.

Hello Hanson! Recently there has been a lot of press attention surrounding Janet Devlin's performance of your hit Mmmbop. Did you see the performance? What do you really think about it?
Let's just say this: she doesn't need us to remind her it wasn't the greatest performance, but we're flattered. Any time your song is referred to as classic enough for people to want to play it on shows like that, because people know what it is.

So you found it complimentary?
Yeah...

Hanson (© PA)Do you think that reality TV shows such as X Factor and American Idol are beneficial to the music industry?
You have to put it in perspective of what they really are, which is ultimately, TV. Entertaining television, and no matter how great the artists are, no matter how great the music is [or not], the focus of those shows is about making entertainment for the TV audience. It's about the dramas and the things that go on that make people want to vote for the person that should stay on the show... Or because his grandma loved him and the last thing she said to him was 'be a singer', so people are going to vote for that artist, for that reason.

At its core, I don't think those shows are about finding the kind of artists that will be the voice of a generation for instance. There are some exceptions to that rule, where some great artists have come out of there. People who are really talented - Leona Lewis for example has a really great voice. But, definitely, if you can keep it in perspective that it's about great TV, then I think under those guides it's good.

But Bob Dylan's never going to win it. U2 are never going to win it.

We would be voted off in a second. Michael Jackson wouldn't win it! I can't think of an icon... I mean maybe James Brown. Celine Dion might have won American Idol... because that's what she does.

Hanson launching what might be least socially acceptable beer in history

Hanson-Kings-LeonI’m just taking a shot in the dark, but something tells me the Hanson brew — named MMMHop, what else? — won’t be the first brew the beer drinkers in your life will be reaching for come time for a cold one.
Hanson — yes, that Hanson — reportedly told a crowd at Oxford University Monday night that they’re launching their own brand of India Pale Ale. Not being a beer-drinker, bar-hopper, or generally social human being myself, I couldn’t tell you indefinitely whether MMMHop stands a chance of being ordered un-ironically, say, at a pub or other watering hole. (Evidence that I was completely honest about my anti-social ways: use of the term “watering hole.”) But I certainly hope some burly man out there finds the courage to order a frosty MMMHop while sitting down to take in a game on TV with his buddies. Because that man, my friends, will be a pop culture hero among simple men.
We’ll all get our chance to taste the flavor of Hanson (eeeww) in early 2012, and I imagine it will resemble the band’s music: sweet, then bland, then a little nauseating. But, later on, you’ll remember it fondly…in private.
So, brave PopWatchers, are you curiously awaiting MMMHop? Will any celebrity beverage be more delicious than Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River Bourbon? And would you be more ashamed to drink MMMHop or Vince Neil’s Tres Rios Tequila in public?
