For a time in the '90s, it seemed people couldn't get enough of Hanson's hit song, "MMMBop." The now, the grown-up Hanson brothers are hoping their new beer, branded "MMMHop," will offer Hanson fans and beer fans a delicious new experience.
According to the Toronto Star, Zac Hanson teased the bands forthcoming "MMMHop IPA (India pale ale)" when speaking at the Oxford University Union on Monday. The beer is expected to hit the market in 2012.
In the almost 15 years since "MMMBop" was released, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson have enjoyed extreme success along with much derision; recently, Rolling Stone named "MMMBop" the sixth-worst song of the 1990s. However, the brothers continue to have the last laugh, with popular tours, new albums, and side projects (such as Taylor Hanson's participation in the supergroup Tinted Windows).
While a non-musical venture may seem risky for the band of brothers, Hanson venturing into beer makes certain amount of sense: all the preteens who loved Hanson 14 years ago, when "MMMBop" hit big, are now of the legal drinking age.
