This news is so funny we had to double check the date to make sure it wasn’t April Fools. Hanson, the boy brother group that unleashed the unholy terror that was MmmBop across the world have announced their intentions to couple their career comeback with the release of their own brand of beer, appropraitely called MmmHop.
During a talk and Q&A session at the Oxford Union on Monday, the reformed boy band told the audience that in addition to running their own independent music label and self-releasing its albums, they would be added another piece of merchandise to their growing list that rabid fans apparently still buy in bulk.
“It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do,” Zac Hanson, the band’s now 26-year old drummer, explained. “We are soon going to be selling our own beer. I’m not joking – MMMhop IPA anyone?”
The beer will sit alongside such gems as poorly printer t-shirts, playing cards, and their recently release Christmas collection which includes a wollen sweater and even Hanson Christmas tree ornaments.
It’s now been 14 years since MmmBop was released and the boys have indeed all grown up, Isaac Hanson, the guitarist, is 31, while middle brother Taylor, the keyboard player, is 28. And remember that cute little drummer? Yeah, he’s now 26-years old and has 2 kids. Taylor also has 4, and Isaac 2.
Sounds to us like all the boys have been up to a lot of MmmBopping. Check out our slideshow of the worst songs of the 90s.
