Valley Band Chosen To Perform With Hanson

A band from the Central Valley will open for a famous pop group.

"Hanson" hand–picked Fresno–based band "Motel Drive" to open for their San Francisco show.

"Motel Drive" has been performing together for the past year and a half, including on KMPH's Great Day program.

The group beat out 140 bands in an online contest to land the gig.

"They called me, yeah, and I go, 'Did you even listen to us?' So they said they did, and they liked it because we were different, and they chose us, and I'm pretty excited to play at the Great America Music Hall," said band member JD Goodwin.

"Motel Drive" opens for Hanson on September 21st in San Francisco.
