It’s a true, time-tested axiom — if you fall out of pop-culture fashion, just wait ten years and you’ll be retro-hip again.
Good news for Charlie Sheen, right?
And also for former teen sensations Hanson, a Tulsa trio that’s suddenly back on the radar again via its fifth R&B/funky set “Shout It Out,” released on their own 3CG imprint (short for Three Car Garage, a family in-joke on its start-over-from-scratch roots). And now, fresh off the band’s recent 3-million-views web smash hit/video, the Blues Brothers-inspired “Thinking ’Bout Somethin’,” they’re back with a second single, “Give A Little,” and a fun digital twist.
The “Thinking” video revolves around dancing — even the youngest children of brothers Taylor and Isaac Hanson were recruited for the project. But the music is up for grabs, via Soundcloud. They’re inviting fans to register at Soundcloud, access the song’s stem files, then remix it to their own liking and submit it back to them.
The winners will be aided by Questlove (The Roots) and RAC (Andre Allen Anjos), then added as B-sides to the upcoming UK digital release of “Give A Little.” Hey, if Charlie Sheen mastered the way to remarket himself on the Internet, Hanson can do it, too!
