Hanson think of themselves as a 70s rock band.

The Oklahoma-based brothers, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson - who shot to fame with their debut single 'MMMbop' in 1997 - have been heavily influenced by music from the 70s and Taylor says it shows on their new album 'Shout It Out'.

He explained: "The last two records we were definitely leaning away from the old school R&B that we had been doing, we've been going a little bit more layered and textured, more pop rock and with this album we've tried to create it in a way that captures a certain energy that we love about albums from our past.

"We joke that we're a 70s rock band because we grew up in the Midwest with a little bit of roots music around us but also listening to 50s and 60s soul music and as a result this album is a mid 70s pop rock album made in 2011."

While Taylor - who will play a series of five shows in London in June called 'Five of Five' with Hanson - admits the siblings do have their fair share of rows, he says their "mutual respect and admiration" will keep the band together for a long time to come.

Asked if he gets sick of working with his brothers, Taylor told BANG
Showbiz: "How many times a week, would be the answer to that. Of course we don't always get along.

"But the truth is we have a mutual respect and connection and sometimes it's actually the clash that makes great art.

"We have a positive message and story in that we don't get into fights in public and act like idiots but the difference is we don't air our dirty laundry in the middle of the street."

RIO - O grupo de pop rock Hanson se recusou a levar uma guitarra numa viagem, após perder ou ter um número razoável de instrumentos roubados. De acordo com a imprensa internacional, o integrante Zac Hanson admitiu estar bastante irritado com a falta de sorte que ele e os irmãos têm nas turnês.

- As guitarras continuam quebrando. Já tivemos quatro tipos diferentes que quebraram, sem falar das outras que foram roubadas. Uma vez, um amigo nos deu uma réplica de uma Gibson Les Paul de 1950, que foi roubada numa viagem de avião. O pior de tudo é que ele era colecionador e faleceu um ano depois. É impossível repor isto. Não é pela guitarra, e sim pelo valor sentimental do presente - disse o músico inconformado.

As viagens não foram canceladas, eles apenas deixaram de levar o equipamento dos shows consigo.

Taylor Hanson believes working with Tinted Windows has improved his creativity with his own band.

The 28-year-old singer took time out from recording Hanson's album 'Shout It Out' to tour with the American rock supergroup created by former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha but despite loving the opportunity to work with other musicians, Taylor has no plans to leave his family band.

Speaking about the group he formed with brothers Zac and Isaac, Taylor said: 'We actually collaborate with other people all the time, mainly on songwriting but last year I went out and toured with Tinted Windows. You need to be inspired in other ways and with this side project while we were making 'Shout It Out', in between studio sessions I went out and toured with James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, Bun E. Carlos and Josh Lattanzi.

'What an amazing chance to get to collaborate but by no means does it take away from what I do with Hanson, we fuel each other that ability to write and be creative and to kind of know Hanson is where we each come from but I can imagine over the next however many years we're together we will work with other people but we'll always come back to Hanson, it's the centre of everything for us.'

The brothers have announced plans to play a series of five shows in London in June called 'Five of Five' which Taylor says are in order to 'give back' to their supporters because they feel like the music industry often doesn't appreciate the fans.

He told BANG Showbiz: 'We feel like London is a great gathering point for fans across Europe to come together.

'This industry is full of people who don't have integrity behind them, they're not in it because they love making great art. The industry in a way has turned its back on fans and real artists ' what keeps us together is that we're willing to take a hit for what we do. We'll work the extra hours and do the business stuff so we can do the music stuff that we love.'

Hanson took over 'Dancing With The Stars' dance floor with their oldie 'MMMBop.' Watch it here!

These brothers haven't quit music, in fact they're still quite active but nothing has reached the fame of their hit 'MMMBop.' So they had no problem in performing it on the hit TV show while the experts dance around to the feel-good tune.

One thing is for certain, the guys are all grown up and looking great. It seems a bit ridiculous for them to be on TV in 2011 but we couldn't help but smile and feel a bit nostalgic for when they were just boys taking over the airwaves in the '90s. Will Justin Bieber fans feel this way when he croons 'Baby' in 10 years?

Hanson are back with a brand new album and a new single called “Give A Little” which will be released in the UK on May 8th.

The three brothers will release their new album “Shout It Out” on June 5th which also features last year’s viral video smash “Thinking About Something” as well as “Give A Little”.

Hanson performs from ‘Shout it Out’ on Dancing with the Stars special (Video)

Hanson returned to Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night to perform during the Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals on ABC. A preshow that gave a glimpse behind the scores, the group gave the audience a great performance. The group that was seen on Monday night and played during the commercial break intro’s and exits plus played ‘MmmBop’ definitely didn’t disappoint when they returned to perform once again for Tuesday night’s Guilty Pleasures week during the special show of the night
The evening program immediately had the Dancing with the Stars kicking off the evening right away with the music of the group, even before the contestants were announced. Considered a guilty pleasure of the 1990’s, the group had everyone on their feet after the performance as they once again impressed.
While the group was singing, the Dancing with the Stars troupe took to the floor to dance in perfect pairs. Sharing just how magical the evening is when dance and live music game together, the intertwining of the two brought a unique excitement to the special show,

Four couples -- all professional dancers -- twirled, bopped and tangoed live on stage to the 1997 hit song on the series’ “Guilty Pleasure Night.”

They also served as the house band and performed other songs including Lionel Richie's "Hello" as the show went in and out of commercials. Hanson returns to "Dancing" Tuesday night to perform "Give A Little" from their new album "Shout It Out."

The pop group, whose first professional performance was at Tulsa’s Mayfest in 1992, has sold more than 10 million records worldwide. They now produce records under their own 3CG label. The brothers, all married, are Isaac, 30, Taylor, 28 and Zac, 25. Between the three, they have eight children.

Hanson is a Guilty Pleasure on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Hanson handled their appearance on Dancing With the Stars last night with the same star power they have always shown while on stage. Sure, they looked older (make that, more mature) but they were still as engaging as ever.

And while the music of this pop trio is not for everyone's taste, it may just well be their guilty pleasure, which also happens to be the theme of this week's Dancing With the Stars. In fact, Hanson was the perfect choice as these brothers crooned throughout the show to prove. For sure, even though these guys have been around for more than a decade, Hanson is still popular with young and old alike.

The band started with their familiar MmmBop and then continued as the house band throughout the performance show on Monday night. In fact, during Dancing With the Stars, Isaac, Taylor and Zac gave diverse performances, doing everything from a cover of Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby to the Billy Ray Cyrus hit Achy Breaky Heart.

Hanson Perform Billy Ray Cyrus’ Hit ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Hanson (of ‘Mmmbop’ fame) served as the house band on last night’s episode of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ and they were in fine form, going as far as bringing a little country to the show while performing a snippet of Billy Ray Cyrus‘ huge country hit from the ’90s, ‘Achy Breaky Heart.’
The Hanson brothers went twangy and did the song proud, showing off their countrified chops. Who knew they had it in them? If Lady Gaga can go country, so can Hanson! Country music is the wave of the future for pop stars and Hanson getting all ‘Achy Breaky’ on ‘DWTS’ is indicative of that fact.
The Hanson boys, wearing suits and suspenders and sporting more close-cut crops nowadays, have become men, but they have not lost their ability to play. In addition to employing a tambourine for ‘Achy Breaky Heart,’ Hanson played the full version of their own hit ‘Mmmbop’ as well as a handful of other smashes across genres, such Vanilla Ice’s hip-hop hit ‘Ice Ice Baby’ and Lionel Richie’s mournful ballad ‘Hello.’
The song choices were all a part of ‘Guilty Pleasures’ week on ‘DWTS,’ and Hanson will be back on the show tonight to give viewers a taste of their current single, ‘Give a Little,’ off of their latest album, ‘Shout It Out.’

Hanson Instructs the Guys to ‘Give a Little’ on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Hanson came back to the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ stage to perform for a second night in a row — this time with their newest single, ‘Give a Little.’
The trio of brothers appeared last night to give viewers a few pop/rock-style renditions of guilty pleasure tunes as the stand-in house band, delivering their own biggest hit, ‘Mmmbop,’ as well as Billy Ray Cyrus‘ ‘Achy Breaky Heart,’ and Vanilla Ice’s ‘Ice Ice Baby.’
But tonight, the guys offered a true taste of their 2011 grown up sound, and laid down a smooth performance of their latest single from their fifth studio album, ‘Shout It Out,’ while dancers spun across the floor.
‘Rock of Ages’ Broadway musical stars Constantine Maroulis and Rebecca Faulkenberry also appeared on tonight’s ‘Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals’ pre-results episode.

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Who Was Eliminated?

Last night’s DWTS prominently featured Hanson. This week’s elimination show opens with an unholy New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys alliance.

Oh, sorry, that’s “NKTOBSB” to you. (We don’t understand why there’s a B missing.)

Yeah, whatever. (Don’t get it twisted. We’re no snobs. We’re huge *NSYNC fans. Also, it’s 2011.) And um… someone is wearing a wallet chain. We’re done here.

This week’s filler: another performance of Kendra’s sizzling samba (no surprise there), a long montage with the other dancers who aren’t stars and a sweet, if sentimental, little dance number about featuring couples of varying ages. And oh, a montage of the contestants talking about how… they want to win. I know. Imagine. Related: there is no need for this show to be an hour long, ABC.

Safe this week: Romeo, Chelsea, Hines, Kirstie, the four highest-scoring couples. Last to be declared safe: Kendra.

In other news from Monday's show, Karina Smirnoff and Ralph Macchio mustered 24 points out of 30 after Smirnoff fell during their paso doble, and Kendra Wilkinson's "Revenge of the Stripper" moves on the judges' table earned her and partner, Louis Van Amstel, a $1 bill from judge Bruno and a score of 25.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs at 7 p.m. Mondays and 8 p.m. Tuesdays on ABC, channel 8.

'Dancing with the Stars' week 6: Kendra called 'stripper' by Bruno, Romeo gets his first 10

Not many things are more unnecessarily indulgent than ballroom dancing, skimpy costumes and ... Hanson, and Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" managed to cram all three elements into one energetic show.

Hot on the heels of "America night," "guilty pleasure night" on "Dancing" was bound to test the boundaries of the show's cheesiness, and sure enough, the celebrities delivered.

Especially, former Playmate Kendra Wilkinson.

The sexy reality star showed off a lot more than her dancing skills as she shimmied in a yellow mini -- and it didn't go unnoticed.

Judge Bruno Tonioli quipped: "Ladies and gentleman, 'Dancing With the Stars' Presents: Revenge of the Stripper, Part 1!"

Then he threw out a dollar bill and said, "Let's do it now, let's get it over with!"

Even birthday boy Len Goodman took notice, "The more you shake, the more I palpitate," the usually grumpy judge grinned. "THAT was one of MY guilty pleasures."

Frontrunners Chelsea Kane and Romeo held their own this week, both earning a coveted 10 from Carrie Ann and 9's from both Len and Bruno with their guilty pleasure dances.

Romeo and Chelsi Hightower earned their first '10' with an elegant waltz.

Romeo tried to live up to his romantic name in a waltz to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," ending the graceful routine by passionately kissing partner Chelsie Hightower.

Theatrics or genuine breakthrough? The Romeo who extended his limbs with such grace this week was a far cry from the reluctant actor at the beginning of the season, but hey, maybe the baller's finding his own on the dance floor.

Chelsea, meanwhile, got downright sunny with a fun quickstep to Katrina and the Waves' "Walking On Sunshine" in a yellow dress and nerdy frames.

"I'm getting a suntan from you!" judge Bruno exclaimed afterward. "You have so much zest. Splendid."

"Sometimes magic happens twice," Carrie Ann teased before later awarding the couple a solid 10, the second of the night.

As part of the "guilty pleasure" night, host Tom Bergeron showed a clip of a younger Bruno prancing about as a backup dancer for Elton John.

"Isn't that a shame about gravity?" the judge remarked.

Not as much of a shame as the barely there speedos he donned in the video, truth be told.

Hanson to play “Give a Little” on “Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals” tonight

After performing “MmmBop”on last night’s “Dancing with the Stars” show, Hanson will be playing their new song “Give a Little” during the one-hour special “Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals” airing at 7 p.m. tonight, April 26, on ABC.
Brothers, and Tulsa natives, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson make up the band Hanson.
The cast of the musical “Rock of Ages,” starring Constantine Maroulis and Rebecca Faulkenberry, will also be featured singing a special medley of the show’s hits created especially for “Dancing with the Stars.”
The live episode includes the remaining dancing couples looking ahead, through live interviews and video, to what it will take for each of them to reach the finals, as well as past “Dancing with the Stars” celebrities and the judges providing commentary on each pair, according to a news release.
“Dancing with the Stars the Results Show” follows at 8 p.m., in which another couple will be eliminated and NKOTBSB (New Kids On the Block/Back Street Boys) will perform “Don’t Turn Out the Lights,” accompanied on the ballroom floor by dance pros Lacey Schwimmer and Tony Dovolani and members of the “DWTS” Troupe.
NKOTBSB will also present a two-song medley of their hit songs “Step by Step” and “I Want It That Way,” accompanied by Anna Trebunskaya and Peta Murgatroyd.
Singer Pia Toscano is also scheduled to sing “I’ll Stand by You,” accompanied by Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff.

Karina Smirnoff Falls! DWTS Season 12 Week 6

Another week, another fall on Dancing With the Stars. Is our true Guilty Pleasure that we secretly love this kind of drama? As long as no one gets hurt, it makes for an interesting night, no?

Blame the blasted coat. Poor Karina Smirnoff tripped over partner Ralph Macchio’s Paso Doble costume in the final dance of Season 12, Week 6. But Ralph pulled her up and got her back on track. We knew we adored him for a reason!

Not to obsess, but this is feeling very Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy after Maks’ fall and Kirstie’s shoe-related wardrobe malfunction — and Maks and Karina were once engaged. That’s the only real connection, but we’re running with it.

By the way, happy birthday, Len Goodman! Not many 67-year-olds get (free) private table dances from the likes of Kendra Wilkinson. You would’ve thought it was Bruno Tonioli’s birthday by the way he reacted to Kendra’s sexy Samba — but we knew after last week that Bruno was desperately in need of some guilty pleasure of his own.

Ultimately judge Carrie Ann Inaba was in the most generous mood, flashing her 10 paddle twice on Guilty Pleasures Week. Romeo Miller ended up getting the first 10 of the season for his Titanic Waltz and Chelsea Kane followed right behind with a sunshiny Quickstep. The two stars tied atop the judges’ leaderboard with 28 points out of 30, while Chris Jericho got tangled in his Tango with a score of only 22. Will he have to stop believin’ tomorrow?

Hanson performs — The now just-about-grown-up trio started the night by singing “MmmBop.” Taylor Hanson is giving us a bit of a Derek Hough vibe, despite the suspenders. Are we alone here? DWTS pros Lacey Schwimmer and Tony Dovolani danced — and did an impressive flip move — accompanied by the DWTS Troupe. It’s like Results Night already! How much you wanna bet “MmmBop” will be in our heads for at least the next week?

Hanson … again — Just for a few seconds, before Kirstie & Maks danced, Hanson sang a tiny bit of Lionel Richie’s “Hello.” They kept doing things like that all night. Hey, if they have to be there anyway, they might as well keep working. Make them sing all the songs! Later, they did portions of “Achy Breaky Heart” and “Cum On Feel the Noize.”

Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy — Samba to "Hit Me Baby One More Time” — During rehearsals, he got impatient with her and she got frustrated with him and herself. It was only a matter of time before they sparred, but this is not even an actual fight. Will they fight when they have to do two dances? Just hit him, baby, one more time! She got to lay her head in his lap, though. The best part of the Samba was probably when Maks pointed to his own bouncing bubble butt. Len Goodman seems to be in a good mood for his b-day because he said Kirstie finally fulfilled her potential. “Right up my alley.” Bruno Tonioli got up and did his hip shaking, saying she delivered the most natural Brazilian north of Rio. Carrie Ann Inaba said, just like Britney, Kirstie is back. Maks shaved his scruff. He’s always hot, but the scruff looked good. Scores: 8, 9, 9 = 26 out of 30.

Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke — Tango to "Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey — Chris is the lead singer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. They’ve toured the world 10 times? During rehearsals, Chris was over-thinking things and getting upset. So we’re at the point in the season where everyone is getting upset about everything. Fun! Their dominatrix outfits don’t really match the song or the story … or the Tango. The Tango is an amazing dance, but this one felt forced. By the way, this is our first Tango of the season and no one did one of those “This is how the Tango should look” examples. Bruno said Chris picked a rock theme, but he turned into a lump of granite out there. It was cold, uneventful, and lumpy. And Bruno did a weird impression of Chris, in case he wasn’t insulted enough. Carrie Ann thought the pressure got to Chris and he wasn’t having fun. It wasn’t exciting. Len said the Tango isn’t a fun dance, it’s a passionate dance. It did lack intensity, though. But overall Len said they did a great job. It should be his birthday every week! Scores: 7, 8, 7 = 22 out of 30.

Romeo & Chelsie Hightower — Waltz to "My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion — Romeo was 8 when he first saw Titanic? Man, we feel old. Romeo is a romantic and with this dance he wants to show people that, with love, all thing are possible. He also wants a 9 or a 10. The smoke machine is back! We should name it. The dance looked technically good, but it felt a little detached, emotionally, even though he kissed her in the end. (Kirstie redux!) Carrie Ann said the dance was magical. She was completely transported. So she felt the opposite. (Oh well!) Len thought it had a romance about it and it was touching. Bruno called him Romeo DiCaprio and said his ship will sail on and on. Scores: 28 out of 30. Carrie Ann gave them the first 10 of the season!

Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas — Quickstep to "Walkin’ on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves — Chelsea is pretending she isn’t ambitious and doesn’t want to be the best. Not buying it. She won Mark’s water fight and she’s been saying in interviews that she wants Mark to find a good balance between his creative choreography and what the judges want because she does want to win. Mark had a dress rehearsal injury. He twisted his ankle toward the end of the rehearsal routine. Len said they managed to fuse high energy with control. Bruno said it was so bright and luminous he’s getting a suntan. He spotted a minor error that no one else saw. Carrie Ann said sometimes magic happens twice, which was a hint that she was going to give another 10. Scores: 10, 9, 9 = 28 out of 30.

Kendra Wilkinson & Louis van Amstel — Samba to "Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin — Louis wants this to be Kendra’s week, since it’s about booty-shaking and that’s her thing. She definitely shakes it in her teeny yellow costume, with little braids in her hair. She even got on the judges’ table to work it, which Len and Bruno seemed to love. Happy b-day, Len! Carrie Ann said “That was a guilty pleasure, my dear.” Len almost had palpitations and he indulged one of his own guilty pleasures by looking up her skirt on the table. Then Bruno completely lost it, going on about her killer boobs, leaning back and saying he and Kendra should just do it now. Too far, Bruno! Simma down. Scores: 8, 8, 9 = 25 out of 30.

Hines Ward & Kym Johnson — Viennese Waltz to "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men — Hines practices getting romantic with a pillow, kissing it instead of Kym. Kiss Kym! But how is this a guilty pleasures song? It’s just a normal good song. Len said Hines is becoming the MVP, the Most Valued Partner. Every dance he does is great and has great musicality. But he’s a bit flat-footed. Bruno said the chemistry Hines has with Kym is flawless. “You’re made for each other.” (Agreed!) Carrie Ann said she saw something strange in the beginning, like he was thinking about the dance instead of letting it flow. (Romeo seemed to have that look in his dance, but he got a 10.) Scores: 9, 9, 9 = 27 out of 30.

Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff — Paso Doble to "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory — Ralph is trying to find a way to be sexy, since he can’t pull a Maks with the shirt and the pleather pants, etc. They do some Karate Kid moves in rehearsals. Karina fell at one point in the dance, tripping over Ralph’s cape. Her cape was long, too. Enough with the long capes, they are just begging to be tripped over! Bruno said there was “an incident” and it was hard for them to recover, but he felt the intensity. Carrie Ann said Mr. Miyagi would be proud of Ralph for getting back up. Len said he’s going to congratulate Ralph for pulling Karina up. He got her back on her feet. “I’m proud of you, you should be proud of yourself.” Yay! Scores: 8, 8, 8 = 24 out of 30.

Dancing With the Stars recap: Our Guilty Pleasure

It's time for another recap of "Dancing With the Stars," which I know everyone is really excited about! Once again blogging is myself, Jenny Kobiela-Mondor, in italics, and my sister Kelly, the bad girl of ballroom, in regular text. And now for a very special episode of So You Think You're a Star Who Can Dance. It is guilty pleasures night! And I've heard tell that Hanson is performing. If they play for someone to dance to, I will literally lose my mind. Also included tonight as a special treat are some comments thrown in by my friend Sarah, who has never seen a full episode of DWTS, but loves Hanson. OMG!!!! Hanson is my favorite music group ever! I've seen them in concert three times. All of which were in college and after. Sarah and I both think that Taylor's hair is bad, but they sounded great. And they are still awesome. Also, the troupe/pros looked fabulous. All sambas should be danced to MmmBop from now on. I do have to say that I've never seen Taylor in a button up shirt and it is wigging me out. And Isaac always looks good dressed up with his hair coifed! Oh Man! Hanson is the house band! I loved seeing Hanson play "Mmmbop." I have loved Hanson forever. And I saw them in concert in college too. So exciting! I loved how their outfits didn't match at all. They were just three brothers playing music together. I highly recommend everyone check out Hanson now. I know they were a silly pop sensation back in 1997, but they are actually a really solid rock band. Maks/Kirstie--Samba! I love Samba! It is my favorite to dance and if done well, my favorite to watch. She's a little stumbly this week, but still good. I jsut feel like she isn't as confident in her dance. Sarah has no comments about Kirstie because she was distracted by Maks' hips. I think that Kirstie definitely has all the attitude necessary to pull off any dance. Also, Maks has really been doing a good job of choerographing interesting routines all season. Kirstie was kind of sloppy during their dance to Britney Spear's classic "Hit Me Baby, One More Time." However, what she lacked in polish she made up for in sex appeal and fringe on her skirt! She definitely took some time to get into the dance, but by the end she was really rocking it. And the judges loved it! (But, spoiler alert, they loved everyone tonight. They must be taking judging lessons from J.Lo.) Cheryl/Chris--Tango. I also love Tango! Chris is a lead singer in a rock band? Awesome! He looked good. He had all his steps and great snap in his dancing. Sarah thinks that he looked like he was thinking. I think the dancing was good, but the performance wasn't there. I feel like being in the bottom two got to Chris. Noooo...I love Chris. Also, he has some of the best posture of any "star" who has been on the show. Chris' dance to "Don't Stop Believin'" was very technically good, but we are obviously not going for technicality on this show. We want PERFORMANCE! And, for the first week all season, Chris really didn't perform. He was just sort of off his game a bit. It's too bad, too, because I love Chris and I really think he'll be in the bottom two this week again. He'd better make it through and really step it up next week! Chelsie/Romeo--Titanic! Awwww and I love that Romeo likes Titanic. Are they doing waltz in 4/4 time? I hate that. Yeah, Romeo still has me won over. He looks so suave and really danced the whole thing well. His footwork was good, though I was once again distracted by Chelsie. Something about her dancing always draws my eye. First 10 of the season. I feel like it is well deserved based on how the judges score. Loved it! Part of it was just the fact that they danced to "My Heart Will Go On." Between that and Hanson I feel like I'm back in my middle school days, when I was madly in love with Zac Hanson and Leonardo DiCaprio. If Jonathan Taylor Thomas would have appeared on the stage at some point I think my 13-year-old self would have died. Anyway. Romeo danced really well. He's getting really good and has a great attitude about dancing and about this show. I wouldn't have thought that I was going to like him, but he's won me over the last two weeks. Great passion this week - and the open shirt did not hurt! Mark/Chelsea--Quickstep. That was super duper cute and she performed the heck out it. But there was something off about her feet. I think she missed some of the steps, and Sarah, knowing nothing about Quickstep, thought that her feet looked slightly lazy. I think part of that is to do with how much energy Mark has and Chelsea just didn't match it. It was fine, but nothing that I am really all that impressed with. This is highly overscored. Romeo did much better and the scores should reflect that. Chelsea was ADORABLE in her dance to "Walkin' On Sunshine." I don't think that's really a guilty pleasure song, but whatever. It was freaking adorable. I didn't really get a bad vibe off her feet or anything - to my very untrained eye it looked great! Bruno said they had "zest," and I would definitely have to agree. Zest is the perfect word. Thank you Bruno. Louis/Kendra--I hate her. I won't even pretend. I hate her and I'm going to hate her dance. I may not even watch her. I'll only watch Louis. I'm so over her and if someone else goes home instead of her this week, I will not be a happy camper. Mmmm Louis looked excellent. Latin pants are good for every guy. And he has so much attitude in his dancing. I love Louis. Sarah actually watched Kendra and she thought that she was doing the moves, but didn't extend her legs at all and nothing flowed. And she missed a few moves. Unsurprisingly, she did well at the stripper moves at the end. I have to give Louis props for giving Kendra a lot of moves that she is good at for their dance to "Livin' La Vida Loca" this week. She must have made a great stripper because the girl can shake her booty and flail around better than any stripper I've seen. Of course, I've never seen a stripper other than in a movie, so take my words with a shaker of salt. Anyway. Kendra didn't do very well. Her dance was awkward and hoochy - not in a good way. Plus, I'm just really sick of Kendra and her fake smile being on my TV every week. Go away Kendra! Kym/Hines--Oh, that was lovely. He did a great job doing the steps and he performed it and it all flowed. He is always so strong for Kym, which is the most important thing in a partner. And he also had really nice lines the whole time. I just love watching him dance. When he is out there, he looks like there is literally nothing else he would rather be doing. I loved it. I think it was the best dance of the night so far. Hines makes me melt. Just plain melt. He danced to "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men, and he just plain killed it. I didn't even write anything down about his performance because I was just so enthralled. Hines is a great dancer. He's light on his feet, he's having a great time, he emotes through his dancing and he has an immense amount of confidence. (And he is pretty dang cute, too.) Karina/Ralph--I love that they are putting in Karate Kid moves! Karina fell, which really threw off that part of the dance, but before it was great. And once they finally got back in, it was great. I think that was Ralph's best dance since the beginning. I think that Paso has the intensity that works with Ralph's intensity and drive in the show. I rewound to watch the fall and to me it looks like after her spinning, Karina caught Ralph's jacket which caused her to fall. Bummer because that was shaping up to be the best dance of the night. And for the recovery alone, I might still consider it the best. Ralph and Karina did a great job recovering from Karina's fall during "Everybody Dance Now." I mean, it threw off their groove for part of the dance, but they rocked the beginning and the end and didn't completely freak out and screw up when they had a malfunction. I really loved Ralph's awesome long coat. And I just really love Ralph. He kind of looks like a dork up there, but there's something endearing and a little bit sexy about him too. Yes, I said it. I said Ralph Macchio is sexy. Not something I would have thought I'd say. But when he's dancing Paso, the Karate Kid is sexy. Other Comments: Oh man! Hanson was my favorite thing on the show ever! I love how much fun they had with the guilty pleasure songs. I really think they should have had Hanson sing all the performance songs. It would have made the show soooo much better. More Hanson! The video of Bruno in an Elton John video just absolutely made my day. Holy. Crap! If you missed it, I highly suggest you look it up. It really was hysterical and wonderful. I think the judges have lost their collective minds with the scoring. This is why I really start to hate the show even more. Where is Simon Cowell when you need him? I realize he knows nothing about ballroom dance but I still think he'd be a better judge/ Overall, I enjoyed watching the show with Sarah, as I have something else to rant to besides just you, my faithful readers, and my sister online. Do we really have more than one reader? I don't even think our mom reads our "Dancing With the Stars" recaps!  What did you think of the show tonight? Who's going home?

Guilty pleasures week! Which is the entirety of this show, really, isn't it?

Somehow, ousted Idol singer Pia Toscano is involved in all this. Not sure if I'd want to be dubbed a "guilty pleasure" this early in my career. But hey, a gig is a gig (is a dancing boyfriend).

Hanson! MMMBop! (I hope Andrew Dansby is watching this.) Even the pro dancers are supremely cheesy tonight.

Speaking of ...

Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerikovsky: (samba, 26) Oh baybay, baybay. I'm digging Kirstie tonight. The old sparkle is back, and she glides across the floor with authority. Just the right amount of cha-cha. (Also? Britney doesn't even dance like that anymore.)

And can I say "bonus" house band Hanson should be installed permanently? And record an album of guilty pleasure tunes?
Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke: (tango, 22) Wait, Jericho is in a heavy metal band named Fozzy? And is now dancing to Journey? This is like some sort of guilty pleasure black hole.
I'd never normally worry about Jericho bringing the aggression, but something isn't clicking tonight. There's just not enough movement or intensity. It feels clipped, a bit clumsy and, after the last few weeks, disappointing.
Romeo & Chelsie Hightower: (waltz, 28) I still remember the SOBBING masses of moviegoers when I went to see Titanic. (I'LL NEVER LET GO, JACK.) This dance wasn't quite as emotional, but it was really lovely. A few parts needed some smoothing out, but nothing major. Who knew Romeo was such a romantic?
And we have the first 10 of the season! (Celine Dion chest thump.)
Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas: (quick step, 28) I wasn't as delirious over this as the judges. The beginning seemed clumsy, and I wasn't crazy about the geek motif. Same score as Romeo, who I think was better. (But what do I know?)
Kendra Wilkinson & Louis Van Amstel: (samba, 25) WHOAWHOAWHOA. This was dangerously close to Super XXXVIII territory. But you know what? It was also her best to date. Finally, Kendra makes use of her best assets. Hef would be proud.
Hines Ward & Kym Johnson: (Viennese waltz, 27) I love me some Hines. He's the most consistent of all the celebrities, ridiculously likable and practically a shoo-in for the finals at this point. He glides through this dance with an effortless charm.
And shut it, Carrie Ann Inaba.
Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff: (paso doble, 24) Wax on! Wax off! And SPLAT.
Karina eats it early in the dance, thrown to the floor by her own twirl and Ralph's coattail. That was no lightweight fall. She seems completely frazzled for a bit, but they power through like champs. It makes Kirstie's trip-ups seem like nothing. Ouch.
Lots of good stuff tonight. But I think Jericho might be bodyslammed out of the ring. What do you think?

Hanson Performs, Karina Falls on 'Dancing With the Stars'

It was Guilty Pleasure night on "Dancing with the Stars" -- and with a performance from Hanson, Karina Smirnoff falling, and Kendra Wilkinson shaking it like a "stripper" for the judges, the show definitely delivered on its theme!

Hanson dusted off their 1997 hit "MMMBop" to set the mood of the night. In case you were wondering after watching the performance (video above), Isaac is now 30, Taylor is 28 and little Zac is now 25. Feel old yet?

From there, it was time for the "Stars" to get their dance on -- and there were two notable moments this week:

First, Karina Smirnoff fell while doing the paso doble with partner Ralph Macchio. While they recovered quickly, the dance still left them with only a 24/30.

Secondly, Kendra Wilkinson did some seriously sexy dance moves on the judge's table -- with Bruno offering up a $1 bill and commenting after "Ladies and gentleman, Dancing with the Stars presents: Revenge of the Stripper, Part 1!"

They ended up with a 25/30.

Hanson Performs on Dancing With the Stars

Hanson performed on Dancing With the Stars Monday night, delivering a spirited and invigorating performance of their '90s smash hit "MMMBOP."
Not entirely sure how Hanson ended up booked on a top-rated network show, but whatever the reason, there the brothers were in all their glory.
It was "guilty pleasure night," however. We'll chalk it up to that:

The all-brother band will return to the show Tuesday night to perform a song from their new album.

Ready for some '90s nostalgia?
The brothers Hanson are all grown up and performed their 1997 hit "MMMBop" on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" on Monday night.
During the band's performance, the professional dancers on the ABC reality show performed to the song.
Hanson also acted as the house band for the night, playing songs like Lionel Richie's "Hello" as the show came back from commercials. The group returns to Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday to perform a song from their new album.

‘Dancing With the Stars’: ‘Guilty Pleasures’ Night, with Hanson

This week on “Dancing with the Stars,” it’s  “Guilty Pleasures” night.

Before we have a chance to register what’s happening, Hanson (Hanson?!) opens the show, playing that one song of theirs. (What? Ok.)

But we’ll cut them a little slack: the brothers are still cute after all these years, and better dressed, especially the one in the blue suit. (We still don’t know their names.) The Hanson brothers grow on us over the night, after gamely (ironically?) playing songs like Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello,” as the show eased out of commercials. It seems like Twitter thought the same, sending “MMMBop” and “Hanson” into the Twitter trends less than an hour after show time.

Surprisingly, Hanson didn’t provide the music for the dancers, which would have been fun to watch. A wasted opportunity, we think.

Who: Kirstie Alley

What she danced: Samba, to Britney’s “Hit Me, Baby, One More Time”

How she did: Very nice hip action, tight turns even if her hands are occasionally a little misplaced. Her basic step is very tight, and she’s precisely in position after each turn and break.

What the judges said: “Great job, very good basic step,” “It’s very hard to make this dance look easy,” “This is the way I want to see you dance each week.”

Score: 26

Who: Chris Jericho

What he danced: Tango to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”

How he did: There’s something still staccato about Chris. His steps are little too heavy, the kicks are too high. He does well when he’s required to carry or lead his his partner but steps that requires finesse still elude him. He put the steps together well, but he lacks elegance.

What the judges said: “You lost timing so many times,” “It was cold and …a bit lumpy,” “It was technically sound but it was cold,” “You had good posture, but it did lack a bit of intensity. Overall, I thought you did an excellent job.”

Score: 22

Who: Romeo

What he danced: Waltz to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”

How he did: Not enough of the lift and dip that characterizes the waltz, and overall, just not enough of the lightness. The dance should look as light as his partner’s pretty lilac dress but Romeo, for all his effort, never achieves lift-off. We stand by our assessment, even as the judges proceed to go rapturous.

What the judges said: “That was magical,” “You dance with great maturity,” “Your footwork was very good and I commend you,” “You achieved a new level of poise.”

Score: 28 (Including the first 10 of the season)

Who: Chelsea

What she danced: Quickstep to Katrina and the Wave’s “Walking on Sunshine”

How she did: Endearing! She shows really great musicality, easily shifting tempo and staying right on top of the beat. Chelsea’s completely synced with her partner without ever looking like she needs needs to check where her feet are. A very confident poised performance.

What the judges said: “Full on and great fun, well done,” “That was light and luminous, you have so much zest,” “You were so in sync.”

Score: 28 (Including another 10)

Who: Kendra

What she danced: Samba to Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ the Vida Loca”

How she did: So she’s a former stripper, right? She should be able to master the samba like no one else. Well, then! Whew, girl… First, we have to nitpick her technique. Kendra still can’t spin to save her life and can barely give the semblance of following a partner. However, her partner sets her loose to shimmy and shake and Kendra, to her immense credit, does that and then some. She closes the dance with a Flashdance-style solo on the judges’ table that nearly gives Len a heart attack and has Bruno waving a dollar bill.

What the judges said:  “You could shimmy like no other,” “Work a little more on the technique” “The more you gyrated, the more I palpitated” “Revenge of the stripper, part one.” (Bruno then proceeded to jump on the table and ask for a lap dance.)

Score: 25

Who: Hines Ward

What he danced: Viennese waltz to Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road”

How he did: Hines was graceful where Romeo wasn’t. Hines has mastered the fluid up and down dips of the waltz, as well as the suggestion of lightness and fluidity. Easily the best male performance, and in contrast to his peers, he shows how far behind Chris and Romeo in their own efforts.

What the judges said: “Every dance you do is just great,” “As a performance and a dancer, you’re second to none,” “Like two birds in love… you couldn’t be more fluid,” “It felt like you were thinking too much.”

Score: 27

Who: Ralph Macchio

What he danced: Paso doble to C+C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now.”

How he did: He started off rocky, and lost his timing a few times. His partner, Karina, trips on Ralph’s long coat and falls hard. Ralph’s shaken until she visibly gets him back on beat. But then! He throws himself into the dance and ends with a very commanding presence.

What the judges said: “Once you got back on, there was no stopping you, “  “That was tough. It’s about being inspiring and getting back up,” “I’m going to congratulate you. You pulled Karina up. You had fire and passion.”

Score: 24

'Dancing with the Stars': Romeo (and Hanson) dominate Guilty Pleasures Week

After a patriotic week that was occasionally a little too over-the-top to watch, “Dancing with the Stars” rebounded with a show all about guilty pleasures -- Hanson was the house band, we saw footage of Bruno Tonioli in underwear, and there were also a few of the best dances of the season.

All in all, it was a good way to spend Monday night.

Kirstie Alley: In kicking off Guilty Pleasures Week, Kirstie danced to a hit song that pretty much no man would ever admit to listening to -- Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.” It was fun, flirty, and even had more hip action than you would originally expect from a 60-year old actress. The biggest surprise? This was all for a samba, which is widely regarded as one of the toughest dances. Score: 26

Chris Jericho: As someone who counts anything by Journey as a guilty pleasure, this was something that immediately brought excitement to our minds. However, the dance just felt substandard. It was solid, but Jericho didn’t bring any of his wrestler excitement to the tango, which came with some high expectations thanks to the song. With a fan base in question, Jericho’s future could be in trouble. Score: 22

Romeo: Here’s the opposite side of the coin. As someone who can’t stand “Titanic,” this on the surface looked like it was going to be a complete and total cheesefest. Instead, it was touching, moving, and it was almost easy to imagine that these two were an actual couple in real life. (Hey, Romeo did get a kiss -- even one on the cheek by Brooke Burke.) He also got the first 10 of the season from Carrie Ann Inaba. Score: 28

Chelsea Kane: After a brilliant performance by Romeo, it seems almost as if the judges may have scored this quickstep a little too high. Chelsea and Mark were pleasant enough, and the dance even was technically solid. At the same time, it really didn’t have the sort of “magic” that Carrie Ann was suggesting outside of being pleasant. Pleasure along does not equal a 10. Score: 28

Hanson 'MMMBops' their way back into our hearts on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Best. "Dancing With the Stars." Performance. Ever.

Oh, we're not talking about any of the dances. Please excuse us while our inner-tween squeals with delight over the fact that Hanson performed on "DWTS" in honor of Guilty Pleasure Week. Yes, that Hanson. And yes, they performed "MMMBop" and acted as the house band for the night. Yes, we were in heaven.

The Brothers Hanson -- Kevin Isaac, Joe Taylor and Nick Zac -- opened the show with their massive hit in the '90s, which brought us back to the days of Pokemon cards and Nickelodeon. Hello, nostalgia! Oh, "Dancing" pros Lacey Schwimmer and Tony Dovolani came back to perform a fun routine during "MMMBop."

Hanson will be back on "DWTS" tomorrow, Apr. 25, for the results show to perform a new song off their new album. We can't wait. Time to break out our old Hanson t-shirts. Here's hoping they still fit!

P.S. Taylor doesn't look like he's aged a day. He was always our favorite. Sorry, Isaac and Zac.

TV Tonight: American Chopper, NBA Playoffs, Hanson on DWTS

American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior Season 2 premieres tonight, the NBA Playoffs air game 4 and Hanson performs live on DWTS.

Remember Hanson? If not, I’m getting too old. If so, thank you! They’re performing tonight on Dancing With the Stars. It might be something worth watching, if you feel like taking a stroll down One Hit Wonder Lane…to be fair, I hear they’ve been working on some new stuff! Another show you might want to catch is American Chopper. Are you ready for Senior vs. Junior shenanigans with the Teutuls? Finally, if you’re into sports, you don’t want to miss Game 4 of the NBA playoffs which has the Denver Nuggets versus Oklahoma City Thunder!

Tonight on American Chopper, lawyers will be meeting with Paul Teutul Jr. to talk about Paul Teutul Sr.’s lawsuit. Mikey Teutul is successful with his art gallery venture, and things kick into gear with Jared Allen’s charity and Supernatural Cymbals. You can catch the American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior season 2 premiere tonight on Discovery Channel at 9 pm.

Last but not least, Game 4 of the NBA playoffs is tonight. The Denver Nuggets will be playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the Nuggets look poised to fail, as they have lost to the Thunder 5 times within the past 18 days. If the Nuggets recover from this it would be somewhat of a miracle, but stranger things have happened. And the Nuggets still haven’t given up. According to Aaron Affalo, “They beat us three times. That’s it. It’s not like they’re convincingly just out-manning us. They’re beating us down the stretch of games where it can go either way. For us it’s just about taking advantage of that.”

Everyone has DWTS fever, even Hanson! Competition has been fierce lately on the show. Four couples have been eliminated, and seven remain. It’s hard to discern who will be eliminated each week, but Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel may not make it if they don’t improve tonight. The theme for this week is “Guilty Pleasures.” What’s your guilty pleasure, and who do you think will come out on top? Dancing With The Stars week 6 airs live at 8|7c on ABC.

Hanson Performs Live on Dancing With the Stars

Hanson is set to perform live tonight on Dancing with the Stars week 6.

Hanson, the boy band that everyone has forgotten about is making a comeback tonight on Dancing With The Stars. For the first time ever, ABC will have a live band / guest performer for its Monday night performance show. The theme for week 6 is “Guilty Pleasures” which is exactly why Hanson will be performing their one hit, mmBop tonight. God help us all!

If one night of Hanson on Dancing With the Stars isn’t enough for you, they will return tomorrow night (April 25, 2011) to perform during the first hour of a special 2-hour DWTS results night. ABC is pulling out the big guns as we get ready for the finals!

Dancing with the Stars Season 12 Week 6 Spoilers

Dancing with the Stars has an action packed week ahead with so much going on, they need not 2 but 3 shows to pack it all in. This week's theme is “Guilty Pleasures,” with each couple dancing to a song we don’t like to admit to liking. (That can be said for some of the musical guests this week too.) On Monday’s performance show, Hanson will be performing “mmBop” and a live performance by a musical guest band on a Monday is a first for DWTS.

On Tuesday night, we are treated to TWO Dancing with the Stars shows. At 8 p.m. will be the Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals special, which will feature the contestants discussing what they think it will take to reach the finals. Past DWTS celebrities and the judges will also weigh in on each couple. Hanson returns for a 2nd night to perform “Give a Little”.

At 9 p.m., the Dancing with the Stars Results Show will feature New Kids on the Block and Back Street Boys teaming up to perform “Don’t Turn Out the Lights” with a pro dance by Lacey Schwimmer & Tony Dovolani. They'll also sing their respective hits “Step by Step” and “I Want it That Way” in a medley, with a pro dance performance by Anna Trebunskaya and Troupe member Peta Murgatroyd.  Also performing is the cast of the musical “Rock of Ages” starring Constantine Maroulis (American Idol Season 4 ). The cast will perform a medley of the show's hits created specifically for Dancing with the Stars.

If that isn’t enough entertainment for you, then let’s not forget another American Idol reject, Pia Toscano, who will sing “I’ll Stand By You.” As if you couldn’t guess, the pro dance will be performed by rumored boyfriend Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff.

Most importantly, what are our stars and pros dancing to? The contestants have to dance a dance they haven’t yet danced, got that? Here’s the breakdown:

Hanson - Hanson Struck By Bad Luck On The Road

 

Pop/rock stars Hanson refuse to take their favourite instruments on tour after breaking and losing a number of priceless guitars.
Zac Hanson admits he and his bandmate brothers are picky about what they take on the road after years of bad luck while travelling, during which several one-of-a-kind items have gone missing.
The drummer tells WENN, "Guitars keep getting broken. We had four different guitars broken and then several more stolen. We had a friend who was a guitar collector and he had given (guitarist) Isaac a replica of a 1950s Gibson Les Paul. They made it exactly handcrafted like the 1950s version, and it was the poster guitar that they used across the country and the world to say, 'Hey, we're doing these special guitars!'
"That guitar was stolen from an airplane. The worst thing about it was it was a gift and that guitar collector died a year later. You can't replace that, it's not even about the guitar - it's sort of the gift and the friend is gone. It's like, come on airplane! We fly but don't fly with anything you care about."
